Talk at Smart City Symposium

In the panel, there will be a talk by Annisa Sarah titled "Wireless Technology Revolution for Smart City: the promises and the pitfalls", where 5G-MODaNeI will be mentioned.

Within the "Czech-Norwegian Alliance for Research Cooperation towards resilient, smart and sustainable cities and regions" funded by EEA Norway, there will be two presentations where 5G-MODaNeI will be mentioned. On June 2, there has been a presentation on "Wireless Communications for the Future Smart Cities" at UiS. On June 9, there is a presentation on "The Applications of 5G Wireless Technology and its Relation to the Environment" at CTU Prague.

The University of Stavanger (UiS) is looking for outstanding researchers wishing to apply for the EU-funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship for a period of two years, with UiS as the Host Institution. Researchers of any nationality, who wish to develop their research and collaboration with UiS, are welcome to apply. Interested researcher must identify an UiS supervisor from the ‘Find your PF supervisor’. Search and select "Gianfranco Nencioni" as supervisor for a postdoc on topics that are the extension of 5G-MODaNeI towards 6G. The deadline to apply is 31st March 2022.

The University of Stavanger and Nordic Edge are organizing a research symposium on smart city during the Nordic Edge Expo 2021 on September 22. Within the symposium, there will be 12 different panels. One of the panels is on "Enabling Smart Cities: From current communication technologies to 5G and beyond", which is including topics related to 5G-MODaNeI. The deadline for abstract submission is June 1.

The Stavanger Artificial Intelliget (AI) Labortory has been launched today. The Stavanger AI Lab is a node for research, innovation and education in artificial intelligence at University of Stavanger. The Stavanger AI Lab is part of NORA and CLAIRE. ComNet is one of the associated research groups. 5G-MODaNeI will benefit by Stavanger AI Lab especially regarding the research activity of WP3, which is focused in finding AI solutions for the resource allocation in 5G MEC.

Today there was the kickoff meeting of the Computer Networks (ComNet) research group at the University of Stavanger. The group is led by associate professor Gianfranco Nencioni and co-led by associate professor Naeem Khademi. ComNet focuses on finding innovative and advanced solutions in the area of communication technology and emerging wired and wireless networking. 5G-MODaNeI will be one of the main reaserch activities of the group.

In the CityZEN website, the grant of 5G-MODaNeI project has been announced. CityZEN is the proposal of a center for research-based innovation and is focused on Smart City. The 5G-MODaNeI team would be contributing to the Working Package on "Communication and Data Computing". If the Norwegian Research Council will accept the proposal, 5G-MODaNeI will definetly benifit from the collaboration with the center.
